Properties:
A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming substance is any long-chain synthetic polymer composed of at least 85% by weight of an ester of a substituted aromatic carboxylic acid, including but not restricted to substituted terephtalate units, and parasubstituted hydropxybenzoate units.
Effects of Acids/Alkalis:
Good resistance to most mineral acids. Dissolves with partial decomposition in concentrated solutions of sulfuric acids. Good resistance to weak alkalis. Moderate resistance to strong alkalis at boil.
Typical Applications:
Chemical compatibility similar to cotton and polypropylene. Has higher temperature
than cotton and polypropylene in most liquids.
Maximum Temperature:
350º F depending upon type of core used.
