Filter Description

A manufactured fiber composed of regenerated cellulose, as well as manufactured fibers composed of regenerated cellulose in which substituents have replaced not more than 15% of the hydrogens of the Hydroxyl group. Manufactured to compete with cotton media's, originally supposed to be a less costly fiber, but is now more expensive. JFPI manufactures (2) types of rayon; FDA (FR), and industrial (R).

Effects

Effects of Acids/Alkalis

Like cotton. Hot dilute or cold concentrated acids disintegrate fiber. Strong alkaline solutions cause swelling and reduced strength.

Maximum Temperature

Polypropylene Cores – 200°F/93°C
Tin Plated Steel Cores – 300°F/149°C
304 & 316 Stainless Steel Cores – 300°F/149°C
